Swift Tracker

Know where every cross-border payment is

When a customer asks where their payment is, your team needs a definite answer, not an enquiry to a correspondent. Swift payment tracking follows each payment end to end using its unique transaction reference.

What it is.

End-to-End Cross-Border Payment Visibility

Swift payment tracking gives end-to-end visibility of cross-border payments using the unique end-to-end transaction reference (UETR) carried on every payment.

Why it matters.

Confirm Status Faster and Reduce Enquiries

You can confirm status, meet the Universal Confirmations mandate, and answer customer queries directly. Fewer enquiries move between banks.

How it helps.

Track Payments Manually or Through Your Own Channels

Two tools cover different needs. The Basic Tracker is a free interface for manual tracking and confirmation. The Front-End Tracker is an API to embed status in your own channels.

Overview

Every payment carries a UETR, which the Tracker uses to record its progress across each institution in the chain. The status of a payment, its timestamps, routing, and the confirmed amount are available from the point it is sent to the point it is credited or rejected.
Which tool fits depends on volume and how you want to consume the data. Institutions with lower volumes use the Basic Tracker, a free interface that also supports manual confirmations. Institutions that want to show status inside their own applications use the Front-End Tracker API.
Since 22 November 2020, eligible institutions must confirm the outcome of incoming payments through the Tracker. Compliance is measured and shared across the community, so tracking is both a service to customers and a regulatory obligation.

Benefits

Tell customers where a payment is and when it was credited, without contacting a correspondent.

Tracked and confirmed payments support related services such as Case Management.
