Payment Controls is a Swift-hosted service that monitors outgoing payment traffic against configurable rules. It offers real-time alerting and Daily Validation Reports.

Overview


Payment Controls runs from the browser-based Screening Utility portal, hosted in Swift's secure infrastructure and shared with Transaction Screening. Rules are grouped into rulesets, which move through draft, active, and archived states. You can run test rules that route results to a separate area and never block, or live rules in blocking or non-blocking mode.

Subscribing to the live service provisions both a test and a live environment, so you can fine-tune on either. The Ruleset Generator produces a baseline ruleset from your historical traffic, which you review and test before promoting to live. Business units, user roles, and alert settings are configured on the portal.

Only live rules in blocking mode stop a payment. Test rules run on real traffic without blocking, so you can confirm behaviour before enforcing. Swift recommends thorough testing before you enable blocking.

Users connect over the internet with a personal token, or over Swift's secure IP network with a personal token or HSM certificate. Roles are assigned in the SwiftNet Online Operations Manager, and the subscription includes ten personal tokens at no charge.
